Growing up on the coast of Belgium, Trish Wend was captivated by the changing sea, open skies and rolling sand dunes. She loved to paint and draw.
Trish moved to the U.S. as a pre-teen and, for a while, continued her creative pursuits. But as the left brain won the battle with the right brain her studies became more “practical.” She received a B.S. in psychology from Northwestern University.
While running a successful public relations and marketing firm, Trish developed migraines and a friend suggested a painting class for relaxation. Climbing the old stairs at The Palette and Chisel Academy and entering a magic place seasoned with old paint and turp was the answer. She was hooked. And the headaches diminished.
Over the next 15 years she took classes on and off between work projects and a move to NYC. Trish is now a recovering marketing executive and is finally able to paint full-time, working mostly in oils.
“I’m thrilled I can just paint and never again will I have to go to a networking event and talk to a distruptor about his ideation… or to an ideator about his disruption.”
She lives in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
“I’m still in awe of the world around me as I paint. Being in nature excites and calms me at the same time,” says Trish. “I get inspired by almost anything -- reflections on the surface of a pond, light on the side of an old barn or the colors in a bouquet of peonies -- all of these have a story to tell.”
